Are You Crew?

Post Views: 291 Well, look at that! It’s the first Friday in December! That means I have a contest to announce! Are you a fan of The Sauder Diaries? Do you think that you’d fit right in with Hans, Annika, Arrietta and the rest of the scoundrels of the Bloody Rose? Are you pretty damn sure you wouldn’t be owing anyone 10% of your pay shares? Here’s your chance! Send me an email to “michel@michelrvaillancourt.com”, with the subject of “I’m Crew!”. In your email, tell me what pirate name you’d use aboard the Bloody Rose; what job you’d be doing (engineer, gunner-marine, deck crew, steward, watch officer); who your favorite character is and why; and if you could get to ask them one question, what would it be?…

More Technology of “The Sauder Diaries” – A Steampunk Dragon; What’s Not To Like?

Post Views: 484 Introduction This is the third part of a three-part set answering this Question From the Audience. So, without further ado, allow me to continue on discussing the various technologies that Hans encounters and uses, and evaluate “The Reasonable Plausibility Level” (RPL) of each. Science and Technology of “The Sauder Diaries – By Any Other Name” The “Dragon” One of the most memorable scenes in “The Sauder Diaries – By Any Other Name” is the dragon attack in the chapter titled “A Quiet Little Town”: “It came into view at the lighted edge of town, lumbering out of the night. From WriMo to WriMo

Post Views: 480 After a bit of tumultuous trip, the second book in my “Sauder Diaries” series, titled “A Bloodier Rose” is now available via both Amazon.com and Smashwords.com. In addition, the Print On Demand (POD) service CreateSpace.com has the trade-paperback edition ready to get you your print copy within two weeks of order; either directly to your door, or via your favorite indie bookstore. It’s been a bit of a slog, and I’m happy this one has been put out the door. For those of you new to the show, I started working on “A Bloodier Rose” a year ago, as part of NaNoWriMo. My observations on the process can be found in this blog post. While I very much enjoyed the social aspect of meeting up with…

The Sauder Diaries On Six Sunday – 28 October 2012

Post Views: 303 From “The Sauder Diaries — A Bloodier Rose “: “Good night, Chief. Thank you for the company.” “Quite welcome, sir, and if I might offer some advice? Do not make the mistake of confusing Michael O’Raedy with Captain Blackheart. One is a man with faults and weaknesses, the other is an inherited legend that is supposed to know no bounds in fearlessness and ruthlessness.” Sauder watched the Chief Steward make his way along the port-size breezeway, leaving the very thoughtful young German alone in the Caribbean night. If you’re not familiar with “Six Sentence Sunday”, swing over to http://www.sixsunday.com/ and take a look. Its a great idea; dozens of authors submitting the punchiest six lines out of existing or soon-to-arrive stories. Browse them; see what…
